5 ways to keep your teeth white

How do you keep your teeth white?

A white, bright smile can change your entire outlook on life. Smiling is always important, but a great smile showing clean white teeth boosts confidence and can even give you a great chance of getting the job you want!

Have you ever seen an actor flashing yellow teeth, lately? Neither have I. For many people, going to the dentist to get their teeth whitened is expensive. Here are some ways to ensure your teeth remain white and stain-free!

1. Avoid certain drinks

We all know smoking is bad for your health, but do you realise it can also stain your teeth yellow? Coffee, tea, red wine and cola are in the category staining teeth. If you have an espresso every morning, it may wake you up but it can cause teeth stains. Protect your teeth from permanent discolouration by choosing lighter coloured drinks (ie: champagne over red wine, cappuccino over espresso) or in the case of cola, simply sip through a straw!

And of course, brush your teeth as soon as you can.

2. Get a tan

Skin tone has a direct effect on the overall appearance. Darker skin contrasts against the teeth, making the teeth appear whiter and more vibrant. However, pale skin tends to draw attention to the yellow. Simply applying a bronzer can help create that brighter smile.

3. Use whitening toothpaste

There are so many whitening toothpastes claiming to whiten teeth. And some do, but sometimes with consequences, such as teeth becoming more sensitive. Some toothpastes have harsh abrasive particles that erode enamel on teeth. Other toothpastes contain peroxide, which is not safe to use on teeth, let alone the gums.

A good whitening toothpaste, like AP24 Whitening Flouride Toothpaste uses a gentle abrasive formula that removes stains from teeth without damage to the surface or cause any sensitivity. This formula has proven results to whiten teeth within 14 days of use.

Not only does the AP24 Whitening Flouride Toothpaste  have a cool minty flavour, but it fights plaque and loosens debris from teeth, so your teeth remain sparkly white and clean.

Whitening your smile with daily brushing makes sense. Since brushing teeth is part of your daily routine, then you will have a whiter, brighter smile with no extra effort

4. Eat the right food

Having a diet that has a lot of processed food harms the enamel on your teeth. Did you know some foods trigger more saliva than others, which neutrilises acid that causes tooth decay. Foods to crunch on include celery, apples, pears, popcorn and carrots. Even sugarless gum triggers saliva and is another form of tooth-cleansing action.

5. Conceal with colour lipstick

Did you know that a pinky nude lipsticks (not hot pink) or red lipsticks can make your teeth look whiter? If you wear lipsticks that are in the colour regime of orange or browns, they tend to bring out the yellow in teeth. Choose from LightShine Elegant Red Lipstick, LightShine Ginger Red Lipstick or Cha Cha Red Replenishing Lipstick and check out the difference yourself!

Making sure your pearly whites remain white can be hard in a society filled with sweet treats, coffee and wine! But following these five tips will keep you smiling and beaming radiantly!
